There are thousands of scammers, snake oil salesmen and just plain lazy profiteers on the Internet who are just lying around waiting to AMBUSH you when you start looking for REAL wholesale suppliers to work with. There is a whole niche industry built up on the Net around this kind of scamming! The people who run these scams have all the moral fiber of a box of hair, and the only reason they even know the word ‘Scruples’ is from the TV commercial for the party game.

IS CHRIS EXAGGERATING?

Find the "99% junk" hard to believe? Let's take a quick look at an auction for an information product that supposedly tells us how to find digital camcorders for 80% off. Further, the seller will give you the information for only one cent. Wow, sounds like a good deal, huh?

One of the cameras that can supposedly be bought for 80% off is the Sony Handycam. Going to the Sony site itself, we find the same camera displayed in the auction, the Sony DCR-HC40, selling for $599.99 retail.

At 80% off, we can expect to pay $120 for this camera, if we can believe our auction seller.

Doing our homework, we find that this camera is selling very well on eBay.

Since we can buy this camera for $120, this means that if the two auctions above were ours, we would have a profit of $390 and $391.

Questions:

1. If YOU could make profits like these, would you bother with a one cent auction?

2. More importantly, would YOU sell the names of your sources so that others can go into competition with you?

Clearly, this is ridiculous and can't possibly be true!

The chinese tend to have very cheap products, that sell like hotcakes on eBay. Check out Chinavastion.com, they have lots of products that you've probably seen around on eBay. They are cheap rip offs of iPod's and other brand name mp3 players. But they are still popular among people that just want to get a good deal on a decent player.

Mp3's sell really well on eBay, yet you have to face a lot of competition. If you sell on ebay price low, have a good sales page, and feature your auctions. The problem is with Chinavasion they don't have very good images of the products, which can really effect the sale. Do keep this FREE dropshipper in mind though.

One problem when importing goods from china is the fact that you, or the customer (always check) may have to pay import tax on items. You need to be aware of this and warn the customer. It is rare that you will get charged, although I did a few times with another company. If you do happen to get charged, ring the courier, and explain that you are dropshipping and it is not you that received the goods. This can be a real pain, so I always sell to the US now. The US have no import tax fees so you are completely safe to send over their. You will have to double check this with your supplier first.

This isn't drop shipping, but it's info for people getting started on EBay or other online auctions. A lot of companies offer free samples, sometimes hundreds of dollars worth of retail products, for just the cost of shipping. Now you may be thinking that they charge a lot for shipping - but it's not true. I have found shipping costs to be very reasonable - $5 to $10 - and these are for items that retail for about $100 or more!

The company is sure you will love their product and buy more! Of course, an enterprising online seller may be tempted to gather samples and resell them on EBay. Am I telling you to do this? Just sayin......

Anyway, FreeSamples.WS is one of the best sites for finding free sample products that I've seen. They actually describe the products and let you know what the offer is.

Some categories include beauty, health, and education - and they add to them all the time!

The products here are actualy brand name items, so I'm sure you might pick up something you can ... well .... use!

Dropshipper Certified By Ebay

EBay actually certifies a couple of different drop shipping sources, and I have used both of them so I'd like to review them for you.
Store Biz 4 U

is an awesome resource. If you are new, or fairly new, to the drop shipping word, this resource contains tons of free artiles and videos so that you will really understand the business. That is the bonus!

They constantly maintain a true and valid list of drop ship suppliers, and it's all indexed so you can easilly find the products you'd like to market. All of the contact information, additional comments, and requirements are listed in one convenient directory. Worldwide Brands actually employes a staff to constantly monitor the list, contact suppliers, and find new suppliers, so you know its not one of those crappy outdated lists.

StoreBiz4U is different, as they actually maintain a system which contains products from several different drop ship suppliers. You can search for individual products, and even use their system to build your EBay auctions if you choose to.

At any time, you can search for thousands of products in hundreds of categories. They also maintain lots of good marketing advice, including the latest info on hot categories.

Drop Shipping and Risks Involved

When you are using a dropshipper as a supplier, it's all about transferring risk. You are eliminating the risk of carrying a large inventory - plus other associated costs like storage. Of course you will need to pay for that transfer of risk. That's why you cannot expect to pay the same cost per inventory item when you order one item at a time as when you order a pallet!

However, keep in mind that if you are a steady and consistant purchaser from a dropship supplier, you should be able to negotiate better prices than somebody who buys one item every six months. You may also be able to negotiate a deal up front. You commit to sell x amount of items within a time span, and then the drop shipper will still store and ship the items out for you.

Your price per item will still not be as low as if you had ordered your own truck full of inventory. However you will not have to ship, store, and unload that truck either! What I am trying to explain is that your margin of profit from the cost per item will not be as large as somebody who stores their own inventory, but you do not need it to be! While a normal supplier may need to markup their items by fifty to one hundred percent, you may be find with a twenty percent markup!

If you take away the need to actually deal with physical products, you should be able to make up in volume the lower percentage of the inventory that you store.

I have found a lot of resources for dropshippers right on EBay! Why not go to the source?

You can go to EBay and search for dropshippers. I think these guys are pretty savy to put up auctions right where potential clients might be searching, don't you? Now again, just as we've discussed before, beware of swarmy middlemen that aren't actual real drop shippers.

Thing to look for in a real dropshipper:

They will require you to have a taxid from your state!
They will actually have an address!
They will have a return policy!
They will have a phone number, and you should call to make sure somebody answers!
